JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #5 seeded Jimmies jumped all over #8 Dakota Wesleyan in the first half to help lead Jamestown to an 81-56 victory and a spot in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship game.
Cole Woodford picked up right where he left off during the quarterfinals, scoring 13 first half points on 3-of-4 shooting from deep. Mason Walters also had 13 points during the first 20 minutes, picking up 11 rebounds as well for a double-double.
Jamestown didn’t take its foot off the gas in the second half either, going ahead by as many as 30 points to finish off the Tigers. Walters was the leading scorer for the Jimmies, putting up 25 points and 15 rebounds. The junior also surpassed Jake Holen for 4th place all-time in scoring at Jamestown.
Will Cordes and Woodford both ended the afternoon with 15 points, and senior Logan Pratt had six off the bench in the final four minutes. The Jimmies shot 49% from the field for the game and went 14-of-15 at the free throw line.
UJ, now 24-8 overall, will head to Nebraska to take on Concordia for the GPAC postseason tournament crown. Jamestown and the Bulldogs will play on March 1st with the scheduled start time still TBA. The Jimmies are 0-2 so far this season against Concordia, losing 92-76 in Nebraska back on November 23rd.
