From VCSU Athletics
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUAthletics.com) – Valley City State University seniors Kevin Schramm and Chris Thompson have picked up All-Conference recognition, the North Star Athletic Association announced Friday night.
Schramm, a senior forward from Roseville, Minn., was named 1st Team All-Conference for the second straight season. Thompson, a senior guard from Galesville, Wis., was named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Connor Entzi, a senior forward from Edgeley, N.D., was recognized as VCSU’s Champion of Character – a student-athlete who represents the NAIA’s five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
The awards were announced Friday night at the NSAA Basketball Honors Banquet in Watertown, S.D. The banquet was held in conjunction with this weekend’s NSAA Final Four in Watertown. VCSU’s men will face Bellevue University at 8 p.m. Saturday in a men’s semifinal game.
Schramm averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season and has been critical to VCSU’s late season push that includes victories in six of their last seven games. Schramm has been named NSAA Player of the Week the past two weeks and is averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds per game over the last seven contests.
Thompson has been a consistent contributor for the Vikings in all aspects of the game this season. He averaged 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting 52 percent from the field and has also been one of VCSU’s best defenders with a team-high 37 steals.
Saturday’s semifinal game can be heard live on KOVC 1490 AM/96.3 FM and online at www.newsdakota.com.
