DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2022 District 7 Boys Basketball tournament was held at the Devils Lake Sports Center of Friday, here are the results:

No. 5 New Rockford/Sheyenne 54  No. 4 Dakota Prairie 39

The game was tight through the first two in a half quarters, featuring nine ties and several lead changes, but the Rockets outscored the Knights 16-8 in the third quarter and took a 37-29 lead going in to the fourth quarter and never looked back. For the Rockets, Sophomore DJ Mudgett led all scorers with 21 points, 16 in the second half, Hayden Meier added 17, including five three’s. The Knights were led by Senior Cade Stein with 16, including three 3-pointers in the first half. NRS is now 5-13 overall, DP drops to 8-11 overall.

No. 2 Harvey/Wells County 72  No. 7 Benson County 32

The Hornets set the tone early, scoring two points off the tipoff after just four seconds into the game. The Wildcats would tie, but is was all HWC after. The Hornets were led by Junior Tate Grossman with 20 points, including a 3-pointer and two slam dunks. Gabe Allmaras added 13. BC was led by Macyn Olson with 12, including two 3-pointers. The Wildcats will try and stave off elimination and pick up their first victory of the year on Saturday at 4pm in an elimination game against the loser of Warwick/Lakota. HWC improves to 17-3 overall.

4PM – Benson Ct. vs. Lakota (elimination game)

530PM – No. 1 (#1) Four Winds/Minnewaukan vs. New Rockford/Sheyenne (semifinal)

7PM – Harvey/WC vs. Warwick (semifinal)
