JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s never too early to begin planning the succession of your farm and ranch.

The NDSU Extension Service has provided the “Design Your Succession Plan” workshops for farm and ranch families to equip them with tools to start their succession plan and shape the future ownership of their business.

Stutsman County Extension Agent Alicia Harstad says this workshop gives you resources needed to start the planning and move ahead.

She added the earlier you begin, the better prepared you will be and feel.

Extension Services statewide are holding these workshops, but there is also a virtual course being offered on March 3rd.

The NDSU Extension Service in Stutsman County will hold their workshop on March 15th and 22nd in Jamestown.

Extension Agent Christina Rittenbach says participants should look to attend both days of the workshop.

Participants will get a binder filled with resource and planning tools to utilize well after the workshop. Rittenbach says from there, they want farmers and ranchers to continue to develop their plan well after the workshop is done.

The deadline to sign up for the workshop in Stutsman County is March 1st. The cost is $125 for the first family member and $50 per additional family members attending. You can sign up by contacting the NDSU Extension Service in Stutsman County at (701) 252-9030, stopping by 502 10th Ave. SE or by searching the NDSU Extension Service website.
