FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay boys wrestling capped off a busy weekend at the FargoDome with a fourth-place overall finish in the dual portion of the state championships.
QUARTERFINALS: #4 JAMESTOWN 37, #1 WEST FARGO SHEYENNE 33
Five different Blue Jays won by fall as Jamestown upset the #1 seed out of the East in the opening round of the state dual tournament. Preston Gall (152), Jackson Walters (182), Bo Nelson (220), Dalton Darby (285), and Pete Rasmussen (120) all won by fall. Colton Mewes (170) won by major decision to help the Jays move onto the semifinals.
SEMIFINALS: #2 MINOT 42, #4 JAMESTOWN 25
Grady Anderson, Mewes, and Walters earned wins by pinfall but the Jays came up short in the semifinal round of the state wrestling tournament. Darby was also able to win by decision (5-2), and AJ Matzke won by major decision at 106. Jamestown would end up placing fourth overall after falling do Dickinson in the consolation round.
