VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – State competition had 14 class A teams attend this year and the Varsity dance team took 3rd place in high kick, hip hop, pom, and received 4th in the jazz division.
The junior Varsity team had 8 class A teams attend and took 2nd in hip hop and jazz, 3rd in Pom, and 4th in kick.
The Varsity dance team continue their season and went to Florida on February 3rd. They competed against 13 teams in the Small high kick divisions in semis. At the end of semis we were ranked 2nd. This is the highest we have placed ever during our first round of competition. The next day they competed in finals hitting everything perfectly! We were hoping to maintain our position but ended up taking home 7th in the nation which we were still thrilled with. “When we attended in 2019 we also took 7th so we were proud to maintain that placement!” From Coach Megan Gilberton.
Dance is such a subjective sport. It honestly depends on how judges feel that day, their mood, what genre they like, etc. We hit everything the best we could and that’s all we can ask for at the end of the day. Our goal was to find that team connection and they sure did!
