JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The top seeds took care of business on the first day of the District 5 Girls Basketball Tournament, here are your results.
#4 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 59, #5 Griggs-Midkota 15
The Loboes made a big statement out of the gate on Friday night, leading 34-6 over the Titans going into the halftime break. LaMoure didn’t allow Griggs-Midkota to score in the third, and led by as many as 46 points in the win. Molly Musland paced the Loboes with 21 points, going 5/10 from three-point range. Norah DelaBarre scored eight points and had eight rebounds off the bench. LLM went 42% from the field, made nine threes, and were plus 13 in turnover margin. Jenna Larson led the Titans with 10 points.
#2 Oakes 60, #7 Barnes County North 23
Oakes starters didn’t play in the second half as the Tornadoes jumped out to a 37-9 lead in the first half. Off the bench, Brianna Schmitz scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the way. 13 different Oakes players made a field goal in a spread-out attack. Jayden Samek was the leading scorer for the Bison with 6 points. Oakes ended the game with 23 made field goals, compared to eight for Barnes County.
#3 Carrington 60, #6 Ellendale 24
Carrington used big runs late in the first three quarters to separate themselves in a battle of the Cardinals. Emma Rindy scored 19 points to lead all scorers as Carrington shot 38% from the field. Mackenzie Thorpe was the leading scorer on the other side for Ellendale, finishing with 12 points.
