Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington Cardinals committed 22 fouls and 20 turnovers but survived with a 50-49 District 5 victory over the Oakes Tornadoes. Senior Lucas Hendrickson scored 17 of his game high 24 points in the first half to help lead the Cardinals victory. Hudson Schmitz added 10 points, all in the second half for the Cardinals. The Tornadoes were paced by Trey Skoglund with 12 points and Adler Paeper added 11 points. The Tornadoes Andrew Wolf drained a three pointer as time expired to cut the Carrington victory to just 1 point, but the Tornadoes had chances earlier in the contest from the free throw line. Oakes made just 2 of 8 from the line in the third quarter but drilled 9 of 13 in the final quarter. The Tornadoes dropped to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in district play. Carrington improved to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in district play. Oakes will travel to Richland on Thursday and Carrington will travel to Kulm to play E-K-M in District 5 play.
