JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown moved to form a North Dakota Cares Steering Committee Monday evening.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich informed the council that this committee is a product of the North Dakota National Guard and meant to show the city’s support of the military.
Four committee members were appointed including George Barnes and Councilmember Dan Buchanan for three-year terms and Dennis Mansavage and David Braten for five-year terms.
The council unanimously approved.
In other business, City Building Inspector Tom Blackmore stated there was a change of occupancy for a building at 117 4th Ave. NW as a request was given for a Beer, Wine, and Sparkling Wine licence.
The council voted to table the request to the March council meeting.
City Engineer Travis Dillman later informed the council they had opened bids on the Jamestown Civic Center Roof Removal and Replacement project. Five bids were received and three were opened.
Two bids did not meet city requirements at the recommendation of Assistant City Attorney Abigail Giroux.
Dillman says the bid is slightly above the estimate due to issues with roofing ice and insulation. The bid of $306,770 to A & R Roofing was unanimously approved.
The city also awarded the bid to Sanitation Products in the amount of $249,508 for a new single Axle Truck with Single-Arm Automated Packer for the City Sanitation Department.
