VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After two of their scheduled three games for the weekend were cancelled, the only action for the Vipers squirts would be a Sunday morning trip to Mandan.  The Vipers won a hotly contested 4-3 game earlier in the season against Mandan in Valley City, but fell in the rematch 1-5.

The Vipers fell behind 0-1 late in the first period, but would even things up early in the second period with a goal from Gray Kasowski (assist Gavin Wiebe).  Madan would rattle off the next four goals for the 1-5 final.  Each team had their opportunities as VC would force 31 shots on goal.  Mandan pressured all game with 48 shots on goal; VC goaltender Tyler Olsen turned away 43.

Playing a B1/A schedule, the Vipers are now 10-10 on the season.  They’ll now look forward to the pinnacle of their season this Thursday-Sunday when they’ll face off against 79 other teams from around the country in the Squirt International B tournament in Fargo.
