Mayville, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington wrestling team entered the Region 2 dual tournament as the number 4 seed and finished the day with a ticket to the state dual tournament with a runner-up finish to the Central Cass Squirrels. The Squirrels defeated the Cardinals 42-36 in the title match. Central Cass (CC) was the three seed coming into the tournament. Carrington knocked off top seeded Pembina County North (PCN) in the semifinals 42-27 and CC defeated number 2 seed Harvey-Wells County (HWC) 48-24 in the other semifinal. PCN defeated HWC 57-22 in the third place match and were unable to challenge for second place as they were defeated by the second place Cardinals earlier. Carrington started the day with a convincing 67-12 victory over fifth seeded Hillsboro-Central Valley (HCV).

Carrington and Central Cass qualified for the state dual tournament in Fargo in 2 weeks. The Region 2 individual championships will be next Saturday in Walhalla starting at 10:00 A.M. and all Cardinal action will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com
