JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Sophomore Will Cordes put up a career-high 29 points on Saturday afternoon in Newman Arena as the Jimmies rolled past Midland, 91-76.
It was the guard play of Jamestown that led the way at Newman on Saturday as Cole Woodford and Cordes went a combined 10-15 from long range in the win. Midland was shooting 55% from the field during the first half of play but still trailed by 10 points as Jamestown was plus-nine in the turnover battle. In the second half, Mason Walters and Cordes both scored 17 points as the Jimmies grabbed their 21st win of the season.
Off the bench, Devan Praska provided a big spark for Jamestown in the first half, taking the Jimmies on a 5-0 run and ending the game with eight points. Walters ended the night with 22 points to go along with five rebounds, and Woodford scored 14 on 4-of-7 shooting from deep. The Jimmies went 57% from deep and only committed six turnovers against the Warriors.
Jamestown, now 21-6 overall and 11-6 in the GPAC, has now won three consecutive games. The Jimmie men will travel with the women to Iowa next week to faceoff against Morningside and Briar Cliff in two games that could determine seeding for the GPAC postseason tournament. UJ is currently the #3 overall seed in the GPAC.
