FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The struggles continued for both of the Hi-Liners basketball teams on Friday night. The girls team hosted the Fargo Davies Eagles and were looking for their second win of the season. The boys team was on the road to take on the Eagles at Fargo Davies High School. Two different venues but the result was the same, Eagles victorious and were never really threatened.

Girls: Fargo Davies 90 Valley City 46

These two teams had met earlier on in the season in Fargo, and it saw the Eagles win that game as well by a score of 83-63. This game was a bit more out of reach as the Eagles traveled down I-94 and were unfazed by the Valley City crowed and continued on their dominant season. Karley Franks leading Fargo Davies with 20-points in the win. The Eagles also getting 18-points from Marissa Burian. For the Hi-Liners, Brooke Eggermont with a 20-points and 1 rebounds for a double double in just over 19 minutes of play. The Hi-Liners girls team will be in game action again on Tuesday when they will travel to take on Grand Forks Central.

Boys: Fargo Davies 103 Valley City 50

This was a tough night for the Hi-Liners from the beginning. The Eagles on their home court, got their crowd into it early as they opened the game up on a 9-0 run. The crowd really started to make noise in the first half when Mason Klabo of the Eagles would steal the ball and run length of the court for a 2-handed slam dunk. It was a 59-29 lead for Fargo Davies at the half. Second half of the game wasn’t much better for Valley City. The Eagles continued to hit 3-pointers from Klabo as well as Ian Motschenbacher. To make matters worse for the Hi-Liners, Alex Proctor came off the bench for the Eagles and had 15-points and make it look effortless. One bright spot that needs to be pointed out for the Hi-Liners was a play that will not show up in the score sheet. Late in the second half with the game well out of reach, Max Froslie of Fargo Davies was going for the breakaway lay up when Andrew Bernston sprinted back on defense to reject the would be easy bucket. Good for Bernston to still have that much heart and effort in a game that was already determined at that point. I can safely assume Coach Alex Quist loves seeing that from his player. Next up for the Hi-Liners boys team, they are home on Tuesday night when Grand Forks Central comes to town. That game can be heard on am149/96.3FM KOVC at 7PM.
