For the next few weeks, we’ll highlight some of the area organizations that will be participating in Giving Hearts Day on February 10th.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Dollars for Scholars has continued to work to raise funds that are awarded to graduates of Jamestown High School to encourage postsecondary education.

They’re also one of the many nonprofits participating in Giving Hearts Day on February 10th. Bob Toso is the Board President for Jamestown Dollars for Scholars.

Toso says with an average expense of $21,000 a year for a public college or university, their work remains important. He added they see a growing number of requests and applications for scholarships to help with those costs.

While the board continues to raise money through advocacy and fundraising events, Toso says the 24-hour Giving Hearts Day event makes a big difference in their efforts.

There’s also an opportunity for matching funds to make each donation important for their organization.

Toso reminds donors to specify Jamestown Dollars for Scholars when scheduling or making a donation during Giving Hearts Day to ensure the dollars stay local. Find more information about the local nonprofit at jamestown.dollarsforscholars.org.
