VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An individual died in a house fire early Sunday morning in Valley City.

Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said the home was fully engulfed in flames once firefighters got to the scene on Sunday, January 23rd. The home is located at 925 2nd Street Southeast in Valley City.

Magnuson said the body of the homeowner was found on Monday, January 24th. He said no foul play is suspected. The body was transported to the state medical examiners office in Grand Forks to determine the exact cause of death.

Magnuson said the cause of the fire remains under investigation with the State Fire Marshall’s office. He said fire crews remained on the scene for more than 14 hours putting out hot spots and looking for the homeowner inside the remains of the structure on Sunday. He said the search for the body resumed on Monday. The following is a statement from the city of Valley City and Fire Chief Scott Magnuson concerning this fatal house fire.
