MANDAN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Senior Haley Nelson claimed the All-Around title on Thursday night at the Mandan Starstruck Triangular as the Blue Jays placed second overall, finishing just behind Dickinson.

Nelson posted a 37.150 to win the All-Around crown, taking first place on the balance beam by scoring an impressive 9.475. She also placed second on the uneven bars, and took third on the vault. Nelson’s 37.150 final score is her highest overall score so far this season.

Julia Skari ended the night with a sixth place overall finish, tying for second with her floor exercise with an overall score of 9.525. Emma Hillerud took seventh overall, taking fourth place on the balance beam with an 8.850. Hillerud also scored an 8.900 with her floor exercise. Brenna Hatch finished 11th overall for the Blue Jays with an overall score of 33.825.

Dickinson won the triangular with a team score of 146.200. Jamestown took second, scoring a 143.275 while host Mandan ended up in third at 129.150. The Blue Jay girls return to competition on Saturday, January 29th against Grand Forks at 12 pm.
