BISMARCK, N.D. (Prairie Public Radio) – House Majority Leader Chet Pollert says he will not seek re-election to his Legislative seat.

That means the North Dakota House Republican Caucus will be looking for a new leader. The Carrington Republican told Bismarck reporters he has been in the North Dakota legislature for 24 years – the last 4 as Majority Leader. And he says it is time to retire.

Pollert is 66.

Pollert says one thing he tried to accomplish as leader was building relationships with fellow Legislators.

As to any advice for his successor:

Pollert says his wife is retiring and they plan to some traveling.
