JAMESTOWN, ND. (jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown hockey team came out strong against Waldorf (Iowa) University Friday afternoon at Wilson Arena, scoring four times in the first period on the way to an 11-1 win.

The two teams will conclude their weekend series Saturday at 4 p.m.

Jason Richter (SR/Cranbrook, British Columbia), Morgan Venne (SO/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), and Philippe Lessard each had a pair of goals while Greg Susinski (SO/Calgary, Alberta) and Jake Huculak (SO/Jasper, Alberta) both had a goal and three assists.

Marquez Ginger (SO/Augusta, Ga.), Gage Thompson (JR/Valley City, N.D.), and Mario DeCapite (FR/Calgary, Alberta) also scored for the Jimmies, who defeated the Warriors for the third time this season.

Waldorf changed goaltenders prior to the start of the second period, as Cade Kujawski allowed four goals on 19 shots in the first 20 minutes. Jack Walsh lasted just 4:53 into the second, giving up three goals on nine shots, with all three goals coming in a span of 3:52. DeCapite and Ginger’s tallies came 15 seconds apart, and Ginger’s goal chased Walsh in favor of a returning Kujawski.

Jamestown outshot Waldorf 57-12 and allowed only one shot in the third. Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 11 saves for the Jimmies.

Cole Haukaas (FR/The Pas, Manitoba) and Logan Berggren (SO/Cypress, Calif.) finished with a pair of assists. Jordan Popoff (JR/Calgary, Alberta), Justin Dumont (SO/Atlanta, Ga.), Andrew Clark (SO/Spokane, Wash.), Jordon Kromm (SO/Calgary, Alberta), Aidan Potas (JR/Fargo, N.D.), Ginger, and Thompson all had one assist.
