JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County State’s Attorney office will once again be hiring after losing an Assistant State’s Attorney.

Stutsman County State’s Attorney Fritz Fremgen informed the commission Tuesday that Assistant State’s Attorney Brianna Kraft had accepted a job in the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Fremgen says pay is also a factor for losing staff. In November 2021, the number of years required was reduced from three years to two years for a promotion from Attorney I to Attorney II pay scale.

He added Cass County’s pay structure is what’s “killing” his department.

Fremgen says he’s begun advertising the position with a range of $64,968 to $85,725 negotiable depending on experience. Kraft’s last day will be January 20th, 2022.

Legal Secretary Gina Guthmiller also announced her departure in December after accepting a job with Alpha Opportunities.

Applications for both open positions will be closed January 6th, 2022.

The Stutsman County Commission also unanimously approved participation in the National Opioid Settlement.
