LITCHVILLE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Litchville-Marion School District will hold public meetings to discuss a vote on a proposed $13-million building project.

Superintendent Tom Nitschke said the school board set February, 8th of 2022 as the election day to vote on the project. He said everyone from across the district is invited to attend these presentations and provide public input.

Nitschke talked about the proposed tax increase for property and agricultural land if this bond issue passes with a 60 percent of voter approval on February 8th.

If the bond issue passes, Nitschke said a new K-12 structure would be built in Marion. N.D. and the Litchville school would close.

Nitschke said enrollment has increased every year over the last five years. He said enrollment for K-12 reached a low in 2016 of 97 students. Right now enrollment is at 135 students and is projected to increase to 155 students over the next two years.

The next public meeting will be Wednesday, January 5th at 7pm in the Litchville-Marion High School in Marion, N.D.

The second meeting will be held Tuesday, January 11th at 7pm in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Katheryn, N.D. and another meeting will be held Wednesday, January 12th at 7pm in the Dickey Community Center in Dickey, N.D.
