JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public School Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech gave his latest report to the school board Monday evening.
Dr. Lech informed the board that there were two different personnel recommendations including the hiring of a Jamestown High School English Language position and to offer extended contracts for the second semester in the math department.
“As the board is aware, positions in math and ELA were unable to be filled and extended contracts for the first semester were offered,” Dr. Lech’s report stated. “While a position is being recommended for hire in the second semester in ELA, there were no qualified applicants available in math so extended contracts will again be recommended.”
In his facility project updates, Dr. Lech reports they continue to meet every other week with the design team to finalize the project scope and design plans.
“The engineers and architects will again be on site over the holiday break to review systems that will allow them to make final design recommendations for each building,” Dr. Lech said. “I will also be meeting with Mike Barsness over the holiday break to review the latest budget iterations and will inform the board at the next meeting.”
In other school board news, Mrs. Tiffany Dawson was recognized after she was awarded the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) Possibilities in Action Award.
The award is given for “outstanding commitment to promoting the possibilities in students’ lives by nurturing their strengths and skills, providing caring relationships, celebrating their individuality, supporting their mental wellness and academic competence, and helping them thrive in school, at home, and in life.”
The board also got the latest Auditor’s report, which found the net position of the Jamestown Public School District decreased $3,280,127 as a result of the current year’s operation. The District’s general fund had $31,862,617 in total revenues and $30,294,527 in total expenditures.
