CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals wrestling team and both the girls and boys basketball teams were in action the last several days, here are the results:
Carrington 60 Benson County 44, boys hoops
On Saturday, December 18th, the boys basketball team took on the Wildcats of Benson County in Maddock for a non-region game, Carrington comes away with a 60-44 victory and improves to 2-0 on the season. Next up for Carrington will be Tuesday night December 21st in McVille to take on Dakota Prairie, KDAK will have the game starting about 730pm.
Carrington 6th place @ Linton Holiday wrestling tourney, 1 champion
The Carrington wrestling team took sixth place with a total of 132.5 points and crowned one champion (Michael Clifton, 182) at the Linton Holiday tournament last week Friday and Saturday, December 17th & 18th. The Cardinals also had two second place finishers (Trace Hoggarth, 120 & Brekken Lura, 145), one fourth place (Corbin Clifton, 138) and one finished in fifth place (Kael Kovar, 152). They had four wrestlers out with injury. New Salem/Almont won the tourney with 228 total team points. Next up for Carrington will be the Rumble on the Red at the FargoDome, December 29th & 30th.
No. 2 Four Winds/Minnewaukan 75 Carrington 47, girls hoops
The Carrington girls basketball team traveled to Fort Totten on Monday night, Dec. 20th for a non-region game against the Indians of Four Winds/Minnewaukan. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 4-0, but the Indians came back to take their first lead 7-6 in the first quarter and never looked back. The Indians had four players in double figures, leading the way for FWM was Senior Myona Dauphinais with 26, including six treys. Seniors Mallory Yankton and Ezura Rainbow added 16 each and Junior Alionna Lawrence had 11. Carrington was led by Senior Sydnie Grager with 14 and Junior Haley Wolsky with 11. Carrington drops to 5-2 overall and FWM improves to 7-0.
Next up for Carrington will be on Wednesday, Dec. 29th at No. 10 Langdon/EM, KDAK will have the game starting about 230pm.
