VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City man facing burglary and theft of property charges stemming from separate incidents in Valley City and at rural residents in Barnes County changed his plea to guilty on December 13th. He was also sentenced to three years in prison by Judge Jay Schmitz and ordered to pay restitution of $4,284. He was given credit for 35 days served in the Barnes County jail.

26-year-old Jeffery Lee Hoganson was arrested October 16th, charged with burglary and theft of property, released and arrested again after he was confronted by a Barnes County man protecting his property at a rural residence on November 10th.

Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher said Hoganson was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of property stemming from a break-in at Smith Lumber Company and another break-in at Bjornson Public Golf course on October 16th.
