JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A busy weekend in local sports had the Blue Jay basketball teams suffer their first losses of the season, and the gymnastics team finished second at the Dickinson invite.

GIRL’S BASKETBALL: BISMARCK HIGH 82, JAMESTOWN 65

The turnover bug bit Jamestown in a major way on Friday night as the Blue Jays gave the ball away 33 times in their loss to the Demons. Annie Nabwe recorded a double-double, putting up 13 points and 16 rebounds. Rylee Joseph and Ella Falk both had 12 points, and Katie Trumbauer also ended in double figures with 11. Falk also had 11 rebounds for a double-double of her own. Jamestown takes on Legacy at home on Tuesday night at 5:30 PM.

BOY’S BASKETBALL: BISMARCK HIGH 86, JAMESTOWN 83 (2 OT)

A playoff game environment in Bismarck saw the Demons just outlast the Blue Jays in a double-overtime thriller. Adam Kallenbach and Ryan Larson had a team-high 15 points for the Blue Jays, and senior Luke Van Berkom tallied 18 rebounds and 12 points for his first double-double of the year. Jamestown went 21-30 at the free throw line and held Bismarck to 33% shooting from the field. The Blue Jays, 2-1, face Legacy Tuesday night at 7:30 PM at Jerry Meyer Arena.

GYMNASTICS: JAMESTOWN TAKES 2ND OF 7 AT DICKINSON INVITE

Paced by a third place overall finish by Haley Nelson, Jamestown scored 141.600 to take second in Dickinson. Julia Skari placed fifth, taking fourth on beam with a 9.050. Emma Hillerud took 10th in the overall competition. The Blue Jays will host a triangular on Tuesday night beginning at 5 PM.
