VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The VCSU Vikings were looking to keep the winning going following their big win on Saturday against Dickinson State. This time they would entertain a team who would travel half way across the country, from the great state of Maine. The University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals came into this match up 2-9 on the season. Vikings took care of business early, and despite 7, 3-pointers from freshman guard Jordan Guerrero of the Bengals, the Vikings take this game 107-63.

In the first half VCSU quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead thanks to 3-pointers from Kevin Schramm and Chris Thompson and a lay up from Connor Entzi. Entzi would finish the first half with 7-points, but the big story for the senior was that he had reached the 1,000 point mark in his Vikings career. Another big story from the first half in this one was the shooting from Bengals’ Jordan Guerrero. The freshman would make seven 3-pointers in the first half, and finish the first 20 minutes with 25 points keeping the game from really getting out of hand at the half as the Vikings lead this one at the break 53-33.

Second half saw the Vikings continue to shoot the ball well. Jalen Addison continued his great evening when he hit a 3-pointer, and then would steal back to back in bounds passes and put both of them in for lay ups and score 7 points in a matter of 4 seconds. Addison would finish with a team high 22-points. It wasn’t all good news for VCSU in the second half, as Schramm went up for a lay up and came down hard favoring his left ankle. He would come off of the court and did not return to the game. With the Vikings with the game firmly in hand the Bengals’ Aiden Grady thought he was going to have an easy wide open lay up. However, Duoth Gach had other ideas as he raced to the basket and rejected the would be easy bucket for Grady. A play that won’t make a difference on the scoreboard or in the game, but just goes to the the heart and determination of Gach.

Vikings run away with this one in the second half and win 107-63 and improve to 9-4 on the season. VCSU will enjoy a couple of days off before they return to action Sunday evening at 7pm when they host Oak Hills Christian College.
