JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee moved to approve the franchise agreements for several communication services Thursday.

The non-exclusive franchise agreements for Midcontinent Communications, Daktel Communications, and Cable Services Inc. filed for the rights to construct, maintain, and operate within and upon, in and under, streets, alleys, and public grounds of the city, a telecommunication system for public and private use.

Assistant City Attorney Abigail Geroux says agreements were modified from prior versions.

Geroux put a timeframe on the agreement for Midcontinent of three years to get infrastructure in place, pending city approval.

Geroux says this is for possible new situations that come online in which it may be difficult for either service to provide within 90 days.

The agreements were unanimously moved to be sent to the City for final approval.

The committee also considered the 2021 abatement application for 2613 HWY 281 S and moved to appoint applications for Central Valley Health and the James River Valley Library Board, which will be considered at the December 6th City Council meeting.
