JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Some concerns were raised Tuesday at the Stutsman County Park Board meeting regarding the concessionaire contract for the Marina Building at the Reservoir.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Luke Anderson and his party with “The Jim” would not be renewing their contract, leaving the concessionaire position open. In conversations with other individuals, they had been looking for a potential lessee to take over.

Lucas Dockter then submitted a document to the park board outlining a new possible contract to be discussed at the latest meeting.

Park Board Member Bob Martin stated his concerns on not opening up the opportunity to the public to find another concessionarie.

Commissioner Steve Chicos pointed out if they were to bid the lease, he believes it should have been done at the previous meeting.

The park board voted to move forward with Martin voting against to hear Dockter’s updated lease plan.

One of the changes to the proposal was the lease for a 10 year period.

Dockter added they would hope to build an outdoor walk-in cooler to help reduce indoor compressor usage. The proposal also requested the county to cover up to $7000 for the cooler with maintenance and repairs covered by the county and the equipment to be permanently fixed to the property.

The park board moved to have Interim Auditor Jessica Alonge draw up a final lease. Dockter was also asked to work with Park Board Chairman Karl Bergh on other needed items.

The motion was passed unanimously.
