JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has made adjustments to license and permit fees as well as utility rates beginning January 1st, 2022.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says one of the biggest changes were water rates.

Heinrich says things were different for wastewater rates.

For garbage collection and landfill rates, there were no planned changes. City Administrator Sarah Hellekson says they did adjust tipping rates for disposal at the city landfill.

Mixed loads also increased 5% to $140 per ton.

In residential garbage, there was a 5% increase on a 95-gallon cart to $19.60 per month, weekly collection. The city also decreased the residential walk-up service by 50% to $10 per month. The service would allow drivers upon request to retrieve containers for disposal.

Late payment fees were also eliminated for 2022 as they were in 2020 due to the pandemic.

The city council unanimously approved the rate changes for 2022.

In other business, the city also approved a letter of support to the Jamestown Drag Racing Association to build a drag strip and appointed two members to serve as members to the Fire Code Board of Appeals for three year terms to expire November 2024.
