LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The second day of the 2021 Class B District 5 volleyball tournament was held at the Lamoure Activities Center on Friday with three more matches, here are the results:

Ellendale 3 Barnes County North 0 (elimination game)

Junior Christena Walker had a match high 13 kills to help the Cardinals of Ellendale defeat the Bison of Barnes County North 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-14). The sets were close early on but the sixth seeded Ellendale Cardinals took control and won convincingly over the seventh seed BCN. Ellendale improves to 7-15 overall, BCN ends their season at 0-20.

Lamoure/LM 3 Griggs/Midkota 0 (semifinal)

Fourth seeded Griggs/Midkota played hard against the one seed and ninth rated Loboes of Lamoure/Litchville/Marion in the first semifinal, but the Loboes were just to tough as they win in three sets (25-23, 25-21, 26-24). LLM improves to 20-5-2, GM drops to 12-12-1.

Carrington 3 Oakes 1 (semifinal)

Three seeded Cardinals upset the two seeded Tornadoes in the last match of the night, so far its the only match of the tournament that a lower seed has won (25-22, 25-21, 13-25, 25-20). The defending D5 champs Carrington Cardinals will make their way into the District 5 championship match for the eighth consecutive year. The Cardinals improve to 19-8-3, Oakes drops to 12-7-2.

MONDAYS SCHEDULE:

4pm – Edgeley/KM vs. Oakes (Region 3 qualifier)

25 min after – Griggs/Midkota vs. Ellendale (Region 3 qualifier)

25 min after – Carrington vs. Lamoure/LM (Championship)
