JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown moved to approve the bid award and purchase a truck scale for the City Transfer Facility Monday.

Sanitation Foreman Shawn O’Neill gave his recommendation to approve the bid to Northwest Scale in the amount of $138,000. He informed the council that the bid had come in over the original estimated amount.

O’Neill added that rebidding the project would not be cost-effective for the city.

City Councilmember Dan Buchanan said losing revenue should be kept in mind when making the decision. Mayor Dwaine Heinrich agreed.

The council unanimously approved the bid.

The City later heard from Interstate Engineering’s Darryl Hornbuckle on awarding the 18″ Emergency Watermain Replacement to Naastad Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $574,456.

Mayor Heinrich added it was a necessary expense, albeit an expensive one for the city.

The City Council unanimously approved the bid.
