VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is an update for this week concerning COVID-19 numbers and changes for the testing site location in Valley City. Including an update on booster vaccines and the mass clinic to be held October 9th at the Hi Liner Activity Center in Valley City.

VACCINATION numbers today:

ND Barnes County

733,111 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered 10,722 doses of COVID-19 Vaccine have been administered

51.3% of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated 59.1% of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated.

Active Case Numbers

4,334 active cases; 656 new positives 67 active cases; 6 new positives

7.4% 14-day avg. positivity 4.3% 14-day avg. positivity rate

We continue to provide opportunities for vaccinations, both for annual influenza and for covid vaccine. In October we are open early on Tuesdays at 7am and late on Wednesdays until 6pm (please call 845-8518 to make an appointment)

Attached a Health Alert Network message encouraging pregnant women to be vaccinated.

MASS FLU/COVID VACCINATION CLINIC: Saturday October 9th 9am-2pm at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. WALK-IN any time from 9am-2pm.

BOOSTERS

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine: On September 24, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finalized COVID-19 booster dose recommendations for people who previously received Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The following individuals are recommended to receive a booster dose:

· people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series,

· people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series,

· people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks, and

· people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Moderna: Currently no recommendation for boosters, we continue to give for those who note they are immunocompromised; Moderna has submitted data to CDC and FDA regarding boosters.

TESTING

COVID-19 testing has moved to the REC Center (140 4th St. SW, Valley City) starting Monday October 4th. Testing will be 12:30-2:30 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
