Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls volleyball team appeared to be headed for a straight set victory over the Benson County (BC) Wildcats winning the first 2 sets 25-21 & 25-19. The Wildcats would rally back for wins in sets 3 & 4, 25-20 & 25-22 to force the fifth set. BC would ultimately have 4 match points in the final set but could not convert and the Cardinal’s only needed 1 match point at 17-16 and defeated the Wildcats 18-16 in the final set for the victory.

Senior Sydnie Grager (6′ senior middle blocker) paced the Cardinals with a team high 21 kills and also added 2 stuff blocks. Haley Wolsky (5’9 junior OH) added 15 kills including the game winner. Allison Jarret (5’5 junior OH) added 9 kills and senior setter Emma Rindy added 7 kills and a match high 36 assists.

BC senior Desidy Schwanke had a great night for the Wildcats, smashing a match high 24 kills and 9 stuff blocks. Schwanke added 3 service aces as well. Jaylen Anderson, junior OH, added 9 kills and 2 aces. Senior setter Hailey Maddock had 29 assists for the Wildcats. Aubrey Kenner (8th OH) sparked the Wildcats comeback starting in the 3rd set, coming off the bench with a pair of service aces overall & connecting on 21 of 22 serves. The Wildcats dropped to 8-4-1 overall & Carrington improved to 6-4 overall. The Cardinals will travel to Barnes County North next Tuesday night for a District 5 matchup that will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com
