JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School soccer team extended its season on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Williston and is set to play in a state qualifier game Saturday afternoon against Legacy.

Cullen Bennet and Jarrett Zalumskis tallied goals on Tuesday evening in the victory over Williston, clinching a spot in the state qualifier Saturday. Zalumskis is the leader in goals for the Blue Jays, totaling six on the season. Jamestown’s 2-0 win against Williston in the play-in game was the third straight shutout win in goal for Ryan Larson.

The Blue Jays, now 5-8-2 on the year, are the #5 seed heading into the matchup against #4 Legacy. In two matches played against Legacy this season, Jamestown is 1-1 with a 3-1 victory in the latest match played on September 11th. Legacy defeated the Jays 2-1 on August 19th in Bismarck, and the Sabres went 8-6-2 in the regular season. Jamestown and Legacy play the first match of WDA State Qualifier play on Saturday at noon in Mandan. The ND State Tournament will be held in Jamestown beginning next Thursday, October 7th.
