JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James Valley Pheasants Forever group is holding their 11th Annual Pheasants Forever Banquet to benefit trap shooting teams in the area.
Pheasants Forever was formed to conserve pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy. Ken McDougall is a member of the local chapter.
He added that the Jamestown chapter of the organization is relatively new, but has already made a big impact.
Through events such as their local banquet, McDougall says they’ve been able to accomplish a lot in their time.
This year, McDougall says they’ve turned their attention to helping support local trap shooting teams at Jamestown High School, University of Jamestown, and Barnes County North.
John Mazur is the Shooting Sports Head Coach for the University and Jamestown High School.
Mazur says the program at the Jamestown High School is for grades 6 through 12 and was brand new last year, but has already exploded with participation.
100% of funding for the high school program are reliant on volunteers, donors, and area businesses and individuals. He said they’re grateful for Pheasants Forever for raising money to help their program. Donations to the club can be made out to the Buffalo City Gun Club.
The banquet is set for Friday, October 1st at Club 1883 with cackle hour starting at 5 PM and a prime rib dinner served at 7 PM. Tickets are $60 which includes a Pheasants Forever membership. There will be tickets also available at the door. The banquet will also have raffles, games, silent and live auctions for pries and more.
