VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Emma Tufte, a new staff person at ON THE MOVE based at the City County Health District, invites folks to try out the multi-use path on Main Street.
She and her husband, Tyler and daughter, Addie often take their dog for walks along that path.
“It’s a perfect way for our family to get our half-hour plus of exercise 3-4 times a week. We really appreciate the multi-use paths that the city has placed in various areas of Valley City and encourage everyone to get 150 minutes of physical activity every week.”
The city of Valley City has systematically been developing its network of multi-use paths around Valley City to help citizens bike and walk to where they need to go and to provide safe places to walk and bike for good health.
Through a grant from the North Dakota Department of Health ON THE MOVE was able to purchase a bench and garbage receptacle that has been placed on the multi-use path on Main Street near Handy Home and Hardware. The grant was to encourage people to ‘get moving’ and to ‘eat healthy’.
ON THE MOVE is a partnership of 18 non-profit and government organizations that have come together to work towards a healthier community. For programming and more information go to www.barnesonthemove.org or call 845-8518.
