FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liners volleyball team was looking to get back into the win column after their loss on Tuesday night, however the Fargo Davies Eagles had different plans on this Thursday evening. The Eagles made quick work of Valley City by sweeping the 3 sets 25-23, 25-17, and 25-21.

The first set of the night was the most competitive match from start to finish. The Eagles got the first points of the night thanks to Senior Ava Wild. In this set, the Hi-Liners at one point trailed by 7 points. However, with the leadership from Dylann Diegel and Faith Peterson, Valley City rallied to take a 23 to 22 lead. Unfortunately the Eagles collected themselves and managed to steal back the first set and win 25-23.

In the second set the Hi-Liners quickly jumped out to a two to nothing lead. The set would go back and forth as both teams failed to take a hold of the game. After the game was tied at 9 a piece, Davies took control of the game thanks in large part to Ava Wild, who at this point was really starting to dominate the games whether it was with kills or blocks up in front. The Eagles took a nine point lead in this one, and ultimately won the second set 25-17.

In the third and final set of the night, the Eagles took control from the start. They jumped out to a two to nothing lead and then would lead five to one. Once again Ava Wild took over the game. She was all over the court. Sophomore Cayla Sailer also played a big factor in this one as well. Sailer did a great job of setting up her teammates for kills. With the game almost over, Valley City found themselves rallying back. However, the duo of Wild and Sailer were just too much for the Hi-Liners and Davies takes set 3 to sweep the night 25-21.

Next up for the Hi-Liners is a home match on Tuesday against West Fargo at 7pm, and you can hear the call of the game on KOVC.
