JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Hashtag: Have A Sweet Heart, Treat All Good.

A message developed by Sharon Swanepoel, this was brought through the Jamestown Public School District as an anti-bullying message for students. Swanepoel says she and her husband were inspired to bring this to young kids as a way to hopefully stop bullying.

According to stopbullying.org, about 56.6 million children will attend school this year. With current data, this would mean 39.6 million, or 70% of students have seen bullying happen in their own school.

The story of “Hashtag Big Bad Bully” brings cyber-bullying into focus, which Swanepoel says is a problem among the younger generation.

A skit performed at an assembly of students and faculty at Roosevelt is based on the book, written by Swanepoel. The story centers on a character named Hashtag who loves playing a special game, but come to a halt when a bully picks on him and his friends. Swanepeol says this has been found to have a great connection with her audience of children.

Members of the Jamestown First Assembly helped put together and play a part in the show. After the play, all students were given a copy of the book to take home.

The assembly at Roosevelt Elementary was one of several Swanepoel has put on in the Jamestown School District. She says she plans to continue her non-profit message at other schools across the country.
