BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its fifth edition of volleyball players-of-the-week honors Monday. Elora Passa of Mayville State (N.D.) was selected as the Attacker-of-the-Week. Sadie Hansen of Valley City State (N.D.) was chosen as the Setter-of-the-Week. Lauren Babcock of Presentation (S.D.) was named as the Defender-of-the-Week.
NSAA Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week
Sadie Hansen – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’9″, Freshman, setter – Oakes, N.D. – Hansen posted double-double in all three matches as Valley City State (N.D.) went 2-1 record for the week. She tallied 46 set assists and 13 digs in 3-2 NSAA volleyball season opener 3-2 victory at Dickinson State (N.D.). She added 15 assists and 11 digs, despite a 3-0 sweep at No. 2-ranked Jamestown (N.D.). She wrapped up the week with a career-high 55 set assists and 16 digs in 3-2 victory over Briar Cliff (Iowa). For the week, Hansen finished with 116 set assists (8.9 assists per game), 40 digs (3.1 digs per set), and eight kills. She also had two blocks and a service ace.
Valley City State (N.D.) kicked off the North Star conference play with a 3-2 thriller at Dickinson State (N.D.) on Sept. 15. The Vikings fell to No. 2-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) on Sept. 17 and wrapped up the week with a 3-2 home win over Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Sept. 19. VCSU is 4-10 overall record (1-0). Dickinson State fell to 0-14 overall record (0-1 NSAA).
