(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School football team’s rythim was touch and go on homecoming night, and as a result, fell in overtime to the Milnor/North Sargent Bulldogs 28-26 on Friday night at Cummings Field.

The Bulldogs were on the board first in the second quarter, but Oakes scored the next twenty points, including a score as time expired in the first half. However, the Bulldogs, and head coach Eric Olson never diverged from their game plan, were able to force extra time, and scored on a two point conversion in the extra period to seal up the victory; after Oakes missed their point-after touchdown play.

“We just made too many mistakes tonight, and you can’t do that against a good time like the one we faced tonight.” said Oakes head coach Greg Dobitz. “We did some things well, but there are still a lot of things we need to work on going forward.”

Oakes is now 4-2 and 3-2 in Region I play. The Tornadoes will try to get back on the winning track and earn a playoff spot next week when they head to Mayville, to battle Mayville-Portland/Clifford-Galesburg.
