BILLINGS, Mont.(JimmiePride.com)– Penelope Hoppe (SR/Temecula, Calif.) scored in the 23rd minute and the University of Jamestown women’s soccer team made it hold up, defeating Rocky Mountain (Mont.) College 1-0 Sunday afternoon.

The Jimmies, now 5-0-0, have won five straight to open the season for the first time under head coach Nick Becker.

Claire Struble (SR/Murrieta, Calif.) had the first scoring chance for Jamestown in the fifth minute, but her shot was saved by Rocky goalkeeper Morgan Blankenship. UJ almost made it 2-0 in the 28th minute as Cassandra Diaz (JR/Montebello, Calif.)’s header off a Briana Perry (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) corner kick went just wide right.

Alex Nowka (JR/Anchorage, Alaska) only needed to make one save in the first half as shots were 4-2 in favor of Jamestown. She had three saves in the second half, coming up with key stops in the 64th and 65th minute.

Rocky’s last scoring attempt came on a Brynn Klinefeller shot in the 87th minute that was wide to the right. Jamestown was able to run out the last three minutes and defeated the Bears for just the third time in 24 matches dating back to 2006.
