JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football team played its first game at the new Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium on Saturday as the Jimmies rolled past Mount Marty, 35-6.

The first half was all Jamestown on Saturday afternoon as the Jimmies put up 28 first-half points. Cade Torgerson found Steve Justice on the first drive of the game on a five-yard pass for the first offensive score of the season. Torgerson and Justice would connect once more late in the first half on a 14-yard route for Justice’s fifth career touchdown.

Torgerson accounted for four of the five Jamestown scores, including a two-yard QB keeper early in the first half. The junior out of Billings went 26-46 for 343 yards and three touchdown passes. On the ground, Frankie Ingraldi led the rushing attack for the Jimmies with 62 yards on 13 carries. Jamestown native Chris Sayler had a rushing touchdown and finished the game with 14 yards on seven attempts.

Justice and Micah Madyun each had a game-high seven catches, with Madyun leading UJ in receiving yards with 101 and one touchdown. Javon Bowie-Monteiro brought in five receptions for 52 yards and Isaiah Roebuck finished the day with 61 yards off of three receptions.

Vincent Corral led the Jimmie defense with seven total tackles, including two for loss. 11 different Jamestown defenders recorded at least four tackles in the win, and the Jimmies also got it done on special teams. Roebuck had three punt returns for 91 yards and helped jump-start the Jimmie offense at the end of the first half.

UJ improves to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in the GPAC. The Jimmies will travel to Hastings to take on the Broncos at 1 pm next Saturday. Hastings is off to an 0-2 start on the season after losing 61-10 against #14 Dordt this afternoon.
