BELLEVUE, Neb. (JimmiePride.com)– The second-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team swept both of their matches Friday at the Bellevue Labor Day Classic, defeating No. 15 Westmont and Texas Wesleyan.

Key Stats: The Jimmies outhit Westmont .451 to .202 in posting their seventh straight victory. UJ made only eight errors in 91 attempts, including just two errors in the first and third sets. Corina Huff (SR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) paced the offense with 11 kills and hit .714, while Kalli Hegerle (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) had nine kills and Taylor Sabinsah added eight, hitting .727 with no errors in 11 attempts. Setters Jackie Meiklejohn (JR/Dickey, N.D.) (24) and Megan Gaffaney (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) (19) combined for 43 of UJ’s 47 assists. Ellie Holen (FR/LaMoure, N.D.) led the back row with 13 digs, and Jayla Ritter (JR/Forest Lake, Minn.) paced the net defense with five total blocks. Ellie Holen had three of Jamestown’s six service aces.

Key Stats: Another 3-0 win for the JImmies gave them their second-longest streak of sweeps in the Jon Hegerle era, trailing only the 2009 team that won 10 straight 3-0 matches from September 18-October 23. UJ outhit the Rams .370 to .229, and made just nine errors in 108 attempts. Anna Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) hit .414 on 13 kills, Jayla Ritter hit .400 with nine kills, and Kalli Hegerle added eight kills. Jackie Meiklejohn had 19 assists and 10 digs, while Megan Gaffaney finished with 18 assists and nine digs. Anna Holen also had a double-double with 15 digs, and Hannah Schiele (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) contributed 10 digs and five assists. Ritter had five total blocks.
