JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – September 3rd marks the opening of archery deer season in North Dakota.

Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says this one of the longer hunting seasons in the state.

Leier says there are some differences from other hunting seasons compared to archery deer.

Normal licensing is still required for both residents and nonresidents.

Leier says another hunting opportunity to take part in is the Dove season, which opened up on Wednesday, September 1st.

Leier says early Canada goose season continues and reminds those hunting in North Dakota to read up on the rules for transporting big game in the state.
