OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Enrollment is up at Oakes Public Schools, but only slightly.

The school year began Wednesday, September 25th and enrollment has remained steady with a slight increase compared to prior years.  As of Monday, OPS has a total of 521 students enrolled with 240 in the High School and 281 in the elementary school.  This is an increase of 7 from the same time last year where the total was 514 students for the 2020-2021 school year.  For the 2019-2020 school year, the total was 510.

OPS Superintendent David Goetz says the numbers at the beginning of the school year do not always match those at the end of the school year.  Depending on the year, numbers from summer transfer students may or may not have been completed by the time numbers were released.
