WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team stayed perfect on the young season Thursday with wins over IU East (25-22, 25-18, 25-12) and William Carey (25-19, 25-15, 25-12) to improve to 4-0 and wrap up the Keiser Invitational.

The Jimmies remained hot in the hitting department during match one with a .336 attack percentage in the win over IU East. Anna Holen and Kalli Hegerle each reached double-digit kills for Jamestown, with Holen finishing with 14 and Hegerle with 12. Hegerle didn’t commit an error in match one and led the Jimmies with a .571 attack percentage. Holen added in 14 digs for her second double-double in just three matches.

Junior Jackie Meiklejohn finished as the leader in assists for Jamestown, picking up 22 and recording a service ace as well. Megan Gaffaney had 17 assists and finished one dig shy of a double-double for the Jimmies. Ellie Holen added in two service aces and 14 digs during match one.

In the second and final match of the day, Hegerle led Jamestown with nine kills against William Carey. Jayla Ritter and Corina Huff each had eight kills and Taylor Sabinash added seven more as UJ hit .333 as a team.

E. Holen finished match two with 20 digs and a service ace while A. Holen picked up 18 digs and seven kills. Meiklejohn distributed 30 assists and delivered a team-high two service aces in the victory over the Crusaders. The Jimmies are yet to drop a set during the 2021 season.

UJ will return to action on Saturday, August 28th, when the Jimmies travel to the Dickinson Triangular to take on Rocky Mountain College and Dickinson State. Game one for Jamestown will be at 2 pm against Rocky Mountain College.
