JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman Rural Water group has requested the installation of pipeline crossing the James River.

An existing pipeline had been installed in 1985, but with the river no longer there, Jesse Hewson with Stutsman Rural Water says they’d like to install a new line.

The line would be installed next to the existing 5-inch pipeline near the Buchanan bridge. Hewson says they would install an 8-inch poly pipeline paralleling 24th Street SE crossing the James River.

The pipe would be buried around 80 feet according to Hewson.

Commissioner Steve Cichos says the reason this project came before the county was because the Bureau of Land Management owned the property before transferring ownership.

The commission approved the permit for the project.
