BOTTINEAU, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The LaMoure A’s season came to an end after losing to Thompson 13-3. The A’s had a fantastic season after winning their district for the sixth consecutive season.
LaMoure struck first with a 2-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to a two-RBI single by third baseman Mason Warcken which brought home centerfielder Max Musland and catcher Owen Lesko. Thompson then responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning with a two-RBI single from shortstop Thomas Schumacher, an RBI groundout by third baseman Brady Gibson and Gibson coming home on an error. Thompson wouldn’t stop there as they scored six more runs in the bottom of the fourth. LaMoure had something brewing in the top of the fifth with bases loaded and one out. Warcken hit another RBI single, but that would be all they would get as the Timmies got out of the inning with minimal damage done. Thompson then scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via run-rule.
Warcken had an impressive day as he went 2-2 and was responsible for all three LaMoure runs. He came in as a pinch hitter filling in for starting left-fielder Avery Kramer who left the game due to an injury. Kramer had a single in the game before he left. Shortstop Gunner Thielges got a single and stole two bases. Catcher Owen Lesko was 1-2 with two runs.
A’s starting pitcher Carter Bowman had a good start to his day in the first two innings and had a three-up three-down top of the first. Unfortunately, the second time through the hitting order was not as kind as Bowman and the relief pitching struggled to slow Thompson’s prolific offense.
Thompson moves on and awaits to play the loser of Cando and Hazen at 5:00 p.m. tonight.
