VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The annual Wiffle Ball World Series was held at Shane Roberts Field south of Valley City on Saturday, July 24th.
The winning team was the Berea Tropics, featuring team members, Jordyn Heck, Brian Fike, Brady Anderson, Josh Lagein and manager L.C. Kjelland.
Trevor Christiansen, one of the co-founders said he, Tommy and Chad Bergen and others held the first event back in 2013. Since then, the field of participants has grown along with the number of spectators who attend the opening ceremonies with Valley City dancers, the National Anthem and an American Legion Honor Guard.
This year the Bergen family held a free will concert (featuring Tripwire) the night before in the City Light Supper Club parking lot to help raise funds for the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation.
The annual Wiffle Ball World Series is held at Shane Roberts Field is located at 3578 Sheyenne Circle south of Valley City, the Bergen backyard.
Christiansen said 17 teams with about 70 participants played in the 2021 Wiffle Ball World Series.
