WATFORD CITY, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles clinched a berth in the Class A State Tournament on Friday evening as they took down Mandan 10-2.
Jackson Walters led Jamestown at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs driven in, including a double, triple, and home run. Walters also scored on three different occasions, and Brooks Roaldson also had a three hit day at the plate, going 3-for-3. Mason Lunzman, Jacoby Nold, and Isaac Mimong all had two hits as well for the Eagles.
Starting pitcher Payton Hochhalter went the distance, throwing 99 total pitches and striking out six A’s batter en route to the win. Only one of the two runs scored by Mandan on Friday night was earned to Hochhalter.
The Post 14 Eagles now move on to play for the West Region Title in Watford City Saturday night at 6:30. Jamestown will try to complete the regular and postseason in the West Region with an 18-1 overall record.
