JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission made some moves to help improve the courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
Commissioner Ramone Gumke was not present.
County Courthouse Maintenance Supervisor Jim Fettig brought forth a proposal for a rooftop unit replacement from Trane U.S. Inc. This would include demolition, removal, installation, and all associated costs.
Fettig says the quote came in at $31,500 for the project.
Fettig says they would need another $500 to run different wiring up there to change the voltage amount. He says Trane is the exclusive low bid for the project.
The previous unit was installed when the building was built.
Chairman Mark Klose says because the project is 5% over, they should be able to fit in the project. The board unanimously approved to purchase the new unit.
Fettig also said one of his coils in an air conditioning unit leaked out refrigerant. He informed the commission that he had $16,000 built up to replace compressors in the roof units.
Fettig says they’ll pull refrigerant, install the new coil, clean it up, and add more refrigerant to the units. That will cost around $11,283, which Fettig says will be covered through Trane repair.
Fettig later informed the commission of his plan to move a wall in the Recorder’s Office. He said the office is so small, it gets used, unused, and back and forth. He pointed out that moving the wall will create more room.
Fettig says they would see a cost of around $6,000 for the work with new carpet, wall move, repair patch, sealings, electrical, and more.
Commissioner Joan Morris made the motion that the project be paid for with the intention of using funds from new COVID funding that was to be discussed by the commission later in the meeting. The motion was unanimously approved.
